Approximation properties of higher degree F-transforms based on B-splines

2015

The paper deals with the F-transform with polynomial components with respect to a generalized fuzzy partition given by B-splines. We investigate approximation properties of the inverse F-transform in this case and prove that using B-splines allows us to improve the quality of approximation of smooth functions.

Shotgun Proteomics of Isolated Urinary Extracellular Vesicles for Investigating Respiratory Impedance in Healthy Preschoolers

Urine proteomic applications in children suggested their potential in discriminating between healthy subjects from those with respiratory diseases. The aim of the current study was to combine protein fractionation, by urinary extracellular vesicle isolation, and proteomics analysis in order to establish whether different patterns of respiratory impedance in healthy preschoolers can be characterized from a protein fingerprint. New insights in respiratory impedance in young children after repair of congenital diaphragmatic hernia: a cross-sectional study

Abstract Lung function impairment is common in Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) survivors. The aim of this study was to evaluate, in children who underwent CDH surgical repair, mid and long-term consequences on respiratory impedance, investigating the impact of CDH on both resistance and reactance parameters, as well as bronchodilator response. Resolving the octant of theta(23) with T2K and NOvA

Preliminary results of MINOS experiment indicate that theta(23) is not maximal. Global fits to world neutrino data suggest two nearly degenerate solutions for theta(23): one in the lower octant (LO: theta(23) 45 degrees). v(mu) -> v(e) oscillations in superbeam experiments are sensitive to the octant and are capable of resolving this degeneracy. We study the prospects of this resolution by the current T2K and upcoming NOvA experiments. Because of the hierarchy-delta(CP) degeneracy and the octant delta(CP) degeneracy, the impact of hierarchy on octant resolution has to be taken into account. Oscillation results for second-order nonlinear neutral differential equations

New theorems extend a number of related results reported in the literature and can be used in cases where known theorems fail to apply. Two illustrative examples are provided.

We present a new method for the numerical solution of bifurcation problems for ordinary differential equations. It is based on a modification of the classical Ljapunov-Schmidt-theory. We transform the problem of determining the nontrivial branch bifurcating from the trivial solution into the problem of solving regular nonlinear boundary value problems, which can be treated numerically by standard methods (multiple shooting, difference methods).

Numerical experiments with single mode gyrotron equations

Gyrotrons are microwave sources whose operation is based on the stimulated cyclotron radiation of electrons oscillating in a static magnetic field. This process is described by the system of two complex differential equations: nonlinear first order ordinary differential equation with parameter (averaged equation of electron motion) and second order partial differential equation for high frequency field (RF field) in resonator (Schrödinger type equation for the wave amplitude). Constraining the nonstandard interaction parameters in long baseline neutrino experiments

In this article we investigate the prospects for probing the strength of the possible non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI) in long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments. We find that these experiments are sensitive to NSI couplings down to the level of 0.01-0.1 depending on the oscillation channel and the baseline length, as well as on the detector's fiducial mass. We also investigate the interference of the leptonic CP angle $\delta_{CP}$ with the constraining of the NSI couplings. It is found that the interference is strong in the case of the $\nu_{e}\leftrightarrow\nu_{\mu}$ and $\nu_{e}\leftrightarrow\nu_{\tau}$ transitions but not significant in other transitions.
